Immigration (3:08 - 5:05)
I don't think we should have illegal immigration, I think we should defend our borders making sure people are not entering our country illegally.
But at the same time, I want to make it a lot easier for people to enter the country
legally.
I think that having people come into this country, who want to work hard, who want to make something of themselves, the more the merrier... the more the better. We all benefit from hardworking Americans.
What I don't want is people coming across the border who just want to go on welfare, who want to go on the dole and are looking for a handout. That doesn't benefit our country. But you know what?, I'm against Americans being on the dole, so I want people contributing to society and working.
This country was founded on immigrants and we don't want to discourage people who want to work hard and contribute to our economy. We don't want to keep them out.
But I tell you, if we follow these policies, if we keep pursuing these policies, 5 or 10 years from now, we're not going to have an immigration problem, we're going to have an emigration problem. Because the best and brighest, hardest-working young Americans are going to leave. They're not going to want to stay here to be taxed and regulated to death.
They're going to want to go abroad in search of freedom, in search of opportunity. That is what's happening. People's grandparents came here, and their great-grandchildren are going to leave... they're going to flee the country. If we don't change soon, nobody who wants to make something of themselves is going to want to stay here. Because you're just a patsy to be sacrificed on the altar of socialism.

You're just there to be taxed. You don't own what you produce. It belongs to everybody, it belongs to society. Well, people might think, "You know what? I don't want the fruits of my labor to belonging to somebody else, I want it belonging to me. If I'm going to work hard and succeed, I want to enjoy my success. And I can't do that in this country, then I'll pick up and go someplace where I can."

And I want to prevent that from happening. And that's hopefully something I can do if I can turn this situation around going into the Senate. (5:05)
