And if you can imagine with all the progress over the last 100-years.. all the inventions, all that innovation, all that technological progress that came to us because of capitalism, not because of government.
Can you imagine what life in this country if government had not grown? If you still had that small government that let the industrial revolution take place. It'd be night and day; you wouldn't even recognize it. If there was an alternative universe, and you can just cross through some wormhole into the United States where we never had a Roosevelt or were we never had this big social welfare state where we respected the Constitution...it'd feel like we're going to another planet. It'd feel like the we're visiting the Jetsons. We'd probably have a 5-day weekend and a 2-day work week. And there'd be no other country in the world that'd even be close to our standard of living.
But we blew it. We strayed from our founding principles. We adopted the principles of all the countries that failed, while the rest of the world is adopting the principles that we're abandoning.
